WMS joins forces with STORM for woman’s conference

April saw WMS join forces with STORM, a community group supporting mothers parenting alone, to host a stand at their ‘Women of Power’ conference. The event was a resounding success, with key figures such as Ian Duncan Smith MP and the Mayoress of Wandsworth attending the day.

The day also provided the chance to develop connections with other local services, from the Family Information Service (FIS), to Access Teams and many health and education professionals across the borough. Our Case Manager Rachael Malhi was able to connect with these services to explain more about how mediation can effectively resolve disputes between neighbours and families and help people to find a better way forwards. As a result we have developed several key referral relationships with other community agencies.

With trained local mediators who volunteer to work with us, WMS provides an excellent mediation service to the local community, providing people with the tools to deal with conflict in a different way. From parents in dispute over child access to neighbours frustrated over noise issues mediation is offered as an informative, safe place to hold difficult conversations and arrive at shared solutions.
